Welcome to Hall Render’s Transformative Health Care Summit, an exclusive in-person event in Chicago, tailored for health care legal counsel. This summit will provide opportunities for networking and peer-to-peer dialogue on issues impacting the health care continuum.
The Summit will kick off on Wednesday, August 11 at 5 PM with an opening keynote address followed by a networking happy hour. Attendees and their guests are invited to network with other attendees and presenters at the Palm Restaurant at the Swissôtel.
Programming on Thursday will begin at 9 AM and will conclude with a dockside happy hour followed by a dinner cruise on the Chicago River that evening.
Friday sessions will conclude at 11:30 AM, with an optional post-event gathering allowing additional time for connecting and follow up discussions with the presenters.

Presented by Dr. Kimberlydawn Wisdom, this keynote address will discuss social determinants of health and what Henry Ford Health System is doing in that space. This session will also highlight public health initiatives that are making a difference in their communities and their impacts on patients and providers. Additionally, attendees will learn about DEI initiatives within the health care industry.

Navigating Labor & Employment and Immigration in a Post-Pandemic World
This session will review and highlight the immigration hurdles created by the COVID-19 pandemic and the direct impact on foreign physician (as well as other health care professionals) recruitment and sponsorship and the solutions to consider going forward. The session will also address hot topics in health care employment law, including a high-level look at the current and trending issues that plague health care employers.

Health Care Facility Development and Management Trends
This session will discuss the type of new hospital and health care facilities being built around the country, including ambulatory surgery centers, behavioral health facilities, free-standing emergency departments, specialty hospitals and senior housing facilities. The speakers will address regulatory trends driving the growth in new health care facilities, as well as the different transaction structures that are used to own and operate modern health care facilities. The session will also provide an overview of how health care providers are getting into the housing business to address social determinants of health.

Making the Transition to Value-Based Care: What Your Organization Needs to Know about Physician/Patient Incentives
This session will focus on the intersection of innovative physician compensation models and the transition from volume-based payments to value-based arrangements. Attendees will learn and understand how organizations navigate the potential legal issues and operational considerations associated with these types of arrangements. Attendees will also hear about innovative arrangements that non-provider organizations are implementing to facilitate a shift in industry focus toward care coordination and improving patient outcomes. Through a thoughtful panel discussion evaluating various types of arrangements and the corresponding potential legal pitfalls, with a particular focus on practical implementation of the newly released Stark and Anti-Kickback value-based regulations, attendees will acquire the necessary skills and analysis for implementing value-based arrangements and corresponding physician compensation incentives at their own organizations.
