Research Services Assistant

The Research Services Assistant reports to the Director of Research and Information Services. The duties and responsibilities of the Research Services Assistant will include, but not be limited to, the following:

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide reference/research assistance to all employees in all offices using print and electronic research methods
  • Circulate and maintain print materials
  • Sort and process departmental mail and deliveries
  • Route journals/periodicals, fulfill photocopy requests and maintain storage of routed materials
  • Maintain currency of print collection with loose‐leaf and pocket‐part updating
  • Assist with new employee orientation
  • Assist with webinar coordination
  • Assist with firm intranet content publication/maintenance
  • Maintain communication and order resolution with vendors
  • Compile monthly statistics
  • Provide training to employees on electronic research databases
  • Track orders, returns and receipts
  • Assist with firm’s knowledge management projects
  • Monitor news and current awareness topics in multiple states for weekly industry update reports provided to attorneys and clients
  • Assist in dissemination of information about new research products to employees and design presentations (PowerPoint, newsletters, etc.)
  • In absence of Director, maintain day‐to‐day operations of Research & Information Center
    Assist with special projects as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Experience in administrative position, ideally with legal research or paralegal experience
  • Ideal candidate has some library experience
  • Superior organization, communication (both verbal and written) and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Attention to detail
  • Familiarity with online research techniques

Technology

Ideal candidate has some knowledge of the following databases/software:
Westlaw, Wolters Kluwer Cheetah, Bloomberg Law, Pacer, Practical Law, MGMA, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint
