Timothy B. Adelman


Tim Adelman counsels health care clients regarding compliance and operational issues, focusing on fraud and abuse, hospital-physician relationships, medical staff bylaws and governance, credentialing, peer review and related hearings, corporate organization, patient care and consent issues, risk management and liability issues and EMTALA and HIPAA matters.

Tim works with health care facilities on accreditation matters, including compliance with CMS’s Conditions of Participation and Joint Commission standards. Tim also assists clients in conducting internal investigations into compliance-related matters and represents clients in response to government inquiries.

He is currently on the Board of Directors of the American Health Lawyers Association and previously served as the Chair of the Medical Staff, Credentialing and Peer Review Practice Group of the American Health Lawyers Association. Tim is contributing author of the Hearing Officer's Guide Book and the author of its 2010 Supplement. He is frequently asked to present on issues relating to credentialing, peer review, EMTALA, HIPAA and IRBs.
