Speaker: Gonzalez, Jennifer H.

In this presentation we will engage participants in an interactive mock deposition process to examine best practices for Human Resources professionals when making decisions regarding employee discipline, performance reviews, investigations, and terminations. By analyzing the deposition and cross-examination of a Human Resources Manager and Company CEO in a gender discrimination case, we will highlight and compare those HR practices that work well, and those that could result in catastrophic consequences for employers. Lessons learned from past HR missteps, such as deleted emails and documents added to personnel files after the fact, are an effective and fun way to learn employment discrimination law.
