This installment of Hall Render's Health Law Broadcast series on health care reform is designed to provide you with a brief update on significant developments from the previous week.

Reconciliation Moves Back to the House

The Senate passed the health reform reconciliation bill (H.R. 4852) this afternoon by a vote of 56-43.  This vote occurred after a flurry of amendments over the past couple of days ranging from an "if Medicaid is so good then Members of the House should have it too" to a "no Viagra" amendment for certain convicted offenders.  But because two budget reconciliation rule violations were found within the student loan provisions of the bill, the now Senate-approved legislation must go back to the House for approval before being forwarded to President Obama for signature.  House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) has indicated that the House could consider the bill as early as this evening.
