Hall Render is pleased to announce associate attorney Julie K. Lappas, J.D., has joined the firm’s Indianapolis office.

Lappas practices in Hall Render's Health practice group where she focuses on a variety of regulatory, compliance and corporate transactional matters.  She counsels clients on compliance with the federal Stark Law, federal and state anti-kickback statutes, HIPAA privacy and security matters, state pharmacy laws, licensure and accreditation matters and corporate compliance issues.

Lappas completed her undergraduate studies at Indiana University and earned her law degree at The George Washington University Law School.  Before attending law school, she worked as a sales representative for Eli Lilly and Company.  Prior to joining Hall Render, she practiced health law in the Washington, D.C. area as legal counsel to a pharmacy benefit management company and most recently in private practice.

Lappas has been admitted to the Indiana Bar and the District of Columbia Bar.  She is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and American Bar Association.

Hall Render is pleased to announce of counsel attorney Robert W. Markette, Jr., J.D., has joined the firm’s Indianapolis office.

Markette practices in Hall Render's Health practice group where he focuses on representing home health, hospice and private duty providers in all aspects of their operations.  He works with clients on issues related to Medicare and Medicaid compliance, payer issues, HIPAA compliance and Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse.  Markette also assists providers in matters related to wage and hour compliance, EEOC matters and other employment-related issues.  He has represented clients in state and federal litigation, administrative appeals and Medicare and Medicaid fraud investigations.

Markette completed his undergraduate studies at Hanover College and earned his law degree at Indiana University Maurer School of Law.  While in law school, he served on the Federal Communications Law Journal. 

Markette has been admitted to the Indiana Bar and State Bar of Oklahoma, as well as the U.S. District Court, Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, U.S. Tax Court and U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit.  He is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, Health Care Compliance Association, Indiana State Bar Association and Oklahoma Bar Association.
