There is an increased emphasis on the availability of physician services and eliminating fraud and waste in our nation's health care system as part of health care reform. The Affordable Care Act includes several incentives to increase both the nation's primary care physician base and physician services in underserved areas, with regulations having already been issued to increase payments for certain services beginning in January of 2011. Physicians should also be prepared to work with their local hospital or other health care providers in responding to alternate payment systems that are expected to drive change in our health care delivery system, including medical homes, Accountable Care Organizations and other alternative payment systems. And from a compliance perspective, it is more important than ever for physicians to understand their role in effective compliance as it relates to matters including supervision, billing and physician-hospital relations. Hall Render's extensive background in working with physicians and physician organizations can assist you in dealing with the challenges of health care reform.
